The Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge is in southern Oklahoma, not far east of I-35.  The refuge was established in 1946 "to benefit migratory waterfowl in the Central Flyway."

Oklahoma

The entrance is not far from the small town of Tishomingo.

There are a number of places to watch wildlife.

There are a few hiking trails; none of them are all that long or strenuous.

The Cumberland Pool (seen below) is fed by the Washita River.

Plenty of dried seedpods to cling to your clothing if you stray off the trail.

These Snow Geese were minding their own business when I startled the entire flock into the air.

The owls of Tishomingo were identified on the sign, although I didn't see one.  Some of the trails are paved.
