Two grasslands in Texas; each quite different from the other.
McClellan Creek National
Grassland is the smallest of all the grasslands. Mainly, it
surrounds Lake McClelland and is now a recreational area.
Lyndon Johnson National Grassland was formerly called the Cross Timbers
Grassland. It's about thirty-five miles from Fort Worth, but you'd
never know you were so close to a large urban area. This area is the
interesection of a number of different environments: open prairies, oak
groves and thickets. There are miles of horse trails.
Each color marks a different trail. At this point, four trails share the same path.
